It has now been 135 days since Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. Since that time, the talk in the Republican Party has generally revolved around the notion of “catching up” — be it catching up in fundraising, in our use of technology, or as I’ve argued, the way that we take advantage of peer production. Over at The Next Right, Gary Andres that relates to the ongoing public debate over Obama’s agenda. Gary writes:
I call it “making noise,” so that those normally not paying much attention to politics sit up and listen. … Less politically engaged Americans tend to hear the “loudest voice in the cafeteria.” These efforts by liberal organizations and Democrats help project the White House agenda to this often hard to reach, but key constituency.
Gary is darn right about this, but it seems that no one is asking the question that naturally follows: if the GOP is striving to “catch up,” why do Republicans seem to be doing nothing to make their own noise? Our activists are at least as fired up as the left by the President’s outrageous $4 trillion budget and his other agendas. So then, why aren’t we engaging our activists to make even more noise than the left?
Although the grassroots tools being used by the left are sophisticated, they are certainly not unable to be replicated; in fact, my company offers a solution that includes an with many of the same tools — phone calls, contacting elected officials, contacting the media, and more. So today I make this proposition: in recognition that this is a battle that Republicans must win, Three Group will provide its Action Center to the RNC or another high-impact national organization that wants to defeat the President’s grotesque spending cost-free. We’d only ask for the organization to cover our expenses for hosting the server. We’re not making this offer this to promote our product; we’re offering this because we are worried about the future of our party and our country, because we’ve spent too much time losing and it is time that we finally start winning again.
Let’s take this opportunity to engage our activists, be the “loudest voice in the cafeteria,” and ultimately win these crucial legislative battles by winning over public opinion. We cannot afford to wait and hand another victory to the Democrats. If someone wants to help make this a reality, please contact me by visiting my personal website, .

It’s awfully hard to make as much noise as a standing president who’s holding town hall meetings.

Making noise just to compete with the left’s hysteria is not the way republicans should play this. Instead they should be studying sound economics in order to educate the progressives and liberals, who for ideological reasons do not understand monetary or macroeconomic policies, in order to maintain an intellectual stronghold in a time when republicans would benefit from pounding a message that cripples Obama’s arguments in regards to his policies.
You know, I remember making a post to a friend of mine after I had watched Obama’s first congressional speech (state of the union), and I recall that the next day his approval ratings had jumped to somewhere near 80%. Of course Bobby Jindal’s speech just solidified Obama’s ratings, because in my opinion it was a fairly weak rebuttle/response to the president’s message. Anyways, it was obvious to me after Jindal’s speech that the republicans are dead in the water. If you were to hand me the transcript of Obama’s speech one hour before Jindal were to go on television, and ask me to write a rebuttle to Obama’s speech for Jindal, the first question I would have asked you is, “How far removed do you want his credibility to be?” Obama’s entire speech was chocked full of Keynesian fallacies, idiot economics, and just pure buffoonery in general, and all the republicans could come up with is whatever Jindal’s meager message was that everyone forgot roughly 10min after his speech was over. I was completely confused after I watched Jindal’s speech. Obama’s speech had just given the republicans more ammunition than anything they could possibly hope for, and instead of capitalizing on the situation, shooting down his ideas with factually based arguments, they put up a weak defense of what they stand for. Had I written that speech Obama’s ratings would have dropping 20 points over night, not gone up 20 points. It was a total disgrace.
So my point in all of this isn’t that the republicans should be making noise just to counteract what the left is doing, but instead just completely remove Obama’s credibiiity through intellect. He doesn’t have any good ideas, so it won’t be hard to do, although it doesn’t look like the republicans are on their game to actually make inroads in this area.
Liberty Now is right. Instead of promoting the repub party, we need to be educating, educating, educating. First ourselves, then others.
Constiututional tenets, economic principals, etc need to be explained constantly to anyone who’ll listen, without being associated with political parties. I believe most people will understand and agree with logical aguments that are presented well, and which don’t force them to accept a particular political group at the same time. After they understand what is being taught, they will eventually figure out who best represents it.
This does not negate Mark’s excellent points.
We don’t need to be rude, but we certainly need to speak up! I was at the Washington Tea Party on February 27, 2009. It was a great rally! It was in front of the White House. At times it was way quieter than it could’ve been. We need to stop being so darn polite and raise our voices! We certainly do not need to lower our standards or manners, however we’ve got an ugly force out there brewing and actively tearing apart OUR America as we know it. This blind and forceful following needs swift and strong attention paid, but above all else, we need action!
Inch by inch, they continue to move in and take everything we love about America. It’s time to be bold in an uncertain world and be strong in the face of the enemy.
