Just over a week ago, I implored members of Congress from both parties to reject the $4,700 pay raise they are scheduled to receive in 2009. However, to date, I haven’t been able to find a single Representative or Senator who has done this.
I have to wonder: where is the outrage from everyday Americans?! As Americans struggle to afford to simply pay their bills, as the economy continues to look bleaker, at least we can rest assured in knowing that our elected officials won’t share our woes – instead, their coffers will continue to grow. After all, it’s not their money they are spending.
No wonder Congress’ answer to the ailing economy is more spending, more debt, and more bailouts.
