I voted early on Friday (October 31st) around 2pm local time. I’ve never experienced a line to vote before Friday, and especially not this long. We waiting in line for about an hour and I counted at least 90-100 people outside the polling place. Once we got a better idea of how many people were in line inside the Library, and people who were at voting machines, I would say the line was about 130-150 people long. I tried to count to take rough estimates.
Pictures and some more background after the jump.
I live out in a South-West suburb of Denver called Aurora. It is by no means a college town or any indicator of young voter turnout for the State. My brief survey of the people in line would lead me to believe that less than 10% of the voters in line would be considered a ‘young voter’. From all of the buzz on the social networking site Facebook though, many of my friends who live in college towns are voting in high numbers. If I had to guess about the turnout this year, I would say we’ll see a 2%-4% increase in young voter turnout.
Please note: I do not know any of the people in the pictures. Thanks local voters!
