Since pushing the site live over the past 24 hours, I’ve received a plethora of positive feedback. All of our contributors extend our most sincere thanks to those who have taken the time to write us kind and encouraging words.
However, a couple very important concerns have been raised about our website and our goals. I’d like to address these concerns in this space.
What is this “NextGenGOP?” Are you guys insinuating that John McCain is going to lose the election?
The name “NextGenGOP” simply refers to our youth and drive to innovate the Republican Party. There seems to be a widespread misconception that the younger generation is flocking to Barack Obama and the Democratic Party in droves. We are speaking up to show that this is simply not the case, and that there are young voices in the Republican Party who are ready and willing to take action.
We are certainly not conceding victory to Barack Obama. We are optimistic that John McCain and Sarah Palin will pull off a monumental and historical come from behind win on Election Day, and that such an upset could hopefully serve as one of the first steps toward restoring the Republican Party to greatness. However, even if McCain wins, the GOP still has a significant mountain to climb in retaking seats in Congress. Indeed, looking to 2010 from a historical perspective, the incumbent President’s party has rarely picked up seats in Congress during midterm elections. Even if John McCain wins, this is but one obstacle that we must face as a party in the coming months.
Does the old idea that, “Youth who seek no council from the old are doomed to repeat the past,” resonate with you?
Absolutely. We are not so naive as to think that we can rebuild the Grand Old Party on our own. Rather, we are convinced that all generations of Republicans must work together to accomplish the ultimate goal of furthering the Republican Party. Unfortunately, however, the involvement of the younger generation in this process has been rather limited. Our goal at NextGenGOP is to change this by providing a forum for the leaders of this younger generation to contribute our ideas and thoughts.

Glad you’ve raised the issue, I’ve been struck with a realization that Ron Paul and Barack Obama taught us some things … and that we may miss those lessons if we disregard the young, fresh, techno movements that accompanied both.
